Hi.

We are just at odd ends with my son's Betta, a gorgeous torquise blue CT.
We've given him a variety of "houses" in which to become comfortable. We tried him in a 14 gallon, by himself. Actually we were trying to breed him with my emerald CT female, but she dropped her eggs in her cup  So no luck there. He made a little bubble nest, but nothing of the pics on the forum/net. I've seen or other male Betta's we've got. There was no aggression on his part, he more often than not was swimming away from the female! That was the most active we've seen him.
So, we rested him up in a little Betta Tank and all he does is seem to sleep/rest on the ground and plantage (for over a week). We tried him in a larger community, he just hid under a plant. So then we put him in a smaller tank with a tiny community, he hasn't left the filter, he's just laying on it and has done after he swam around the tank the first time.
My concern is wether its a health issue  or is it some kind of breeding issue or a personality thing? :dunno: I have no idea. I try and make my fishies as happy as possible. I'm all out of ideas! :hyper:

Any ideas? Cheers, Xan

wish i knew lol my betta has been doing the same thing he blew bubblenests when i first got him he doesent any more just hides in the plants and lounges on the bottom i fond something that is intruging mine though i have some shine marbles in the bottom that he can see himself so he know keeps circling the marbles looking at his reflection and flarin on occasion.

I live in the tropics, in saying that, this winter is growing cold (for me) that is it will get at worst 26-30 C no idea about what that might be in farenheit. Also I haven't kept Betta's over the winter here before, when I lived in a colder climate they would have heated by room heating which would have made it quite warm. All the tanks we have have an average temperature 24 C, except for the bigger one which sits about 26 C above that. The female Bettas are thriving in those temps. But my Purple Murauder isn't as flamboyant as is usual as well. I just put him in a much bigger tank though...

So Sad. He died, even though I shon a hot lamp on him and tried to get him happy. :byebye: :-( :-(

I feel really bad about it, but I know I did as much as I could in the knowledge that I have. Doesn't make it any easier though.

Purple maurader seems to have been suffering the same symptoms. In a different tank though hes showing lots of life. Wondering why the CT was sick and died. He really wasn't ever energenic, maybe he was sick from before we bought him.

That's quite possible---that he was sick before you got him.

Don't feel bad about it, though. It sounds like you did the best you knew how to do for the little guy.

Awww sorry to hear you lost him

Sometimes, no matter what we do, we lose the battle. He could have had a traumatic time in shipping etc getting to the shop and already be stressed out when you got him :/
