Just thought I would share that one of my Leptosomas is holding eggs. She has been for the past week and half so another week or so and I should (fingers crossed) see some babies! Does anyone have any experience of raising these guys? Thank you x

Ok, she has been holding now for 3 weeks and 2 days, I can see the babies, there appears to be about 5 of them crammed in there like sardines, when is she (finally) going to spit them!?

Congrats on the fry, she should be spitting them any day now, they are stubborn aren't they.

Well the babies have finally arrived! They are all doing well, all 11 eating for England and very busy. You can even see their little yellow fins! Anyway, no baby thread would be complete without photos so enjoy!

Took her long enough to finally give up holding them, she had them in her mouth for 4 weeks and 4 days, I had to net her and stroke her gills flaps to make her spit the flipping things in the end as I was worried that neither mum nor babies had had any food for some time. They are all eating well now though, making up for lost time I think!

I had a lab that held for 32 days before I stripped her since I was afraid she'd starve to death, like I said they can be stubborn little things.

Crikey, 32 days, they certainly can be stubborn! Now my other female is holding but she is quite fat so not to bothered about her holding for too long, I think she would be ok for a few months!

Just be warned, once they get started they can be veritable baby factories. :hey:

Yeah I know, between my pair of shellies and the sardine cichlids I have about 50 babies! *Sigh* I guess I wil have to set up another tank for them to grow on in, lol.
