leopard danio

info about your tank and whats in it will help. have you tested the water for nitrite, nitrate, ammonia and ph recently? :)
anything else wrong with the fish?

The tank is a week and a half old. Added fish two days ago.

.25 ammonia, not checking nitrite or nitrate since I'm cycling with the danios.
7.0 pH.

I noticed that it is a lot darker than the other danios in the tank since it started swimming incorrectly.

If the fish cannot maintain balance or stay upright in the water, it has a swim bladder disorder which are very hard to treat with any success, how long has he How many gallons does the tank hold and what other fish do you have and their numbers? How long has the tank been set up for?
You should definatly test for nitrate and nitrite when cycling a tank- they are some of the most important things to test.

It's only been two days since I put fish in the tank, so no nitrites or nitrates would be present.

5 Leopard Danios for cycling.
29 Gallon Tank
Power Filter
Gravel and Artificial Plants.

Cannot swim correctly, and is breathing extremely fast.

*EDIT*
Just flipped over. I don't think it is going to make it. Alright, since I am cycling, bound to happen anyways. Advice on how to keep fish alive during cycling?

you are starting to show ammonia so the nitrite may be rising too, but if you dont test for it how do you know it wont get too high?
i suggest doing regular small water changes until you find out the nitrite and nitrate levels.

GONE...RIP

Well, another one bites the dust, hopefully the rest will make it through the cycle.

With only .25 ppm of ammonia, nitrite will already start to develop to the point where you can test it?
I thought the nitrite starts to develop when ammonia is around 4-6 ppm.

In a cycling tank, you don't ever want the ammonia to get over .5 max. Even at .25 ammonia, you should be doing daily water chagnes of about 10%. You only let the ammonia get to 5 or 6 ppm during a fishless cycle. I doubt there are any fish that could live through even 2 or 3 ppm let alone 5 or 6.

Oh...I am so stupid, I never knew that

Now, I'm gonna change some of the water since I don't want it to get even up to .5 ppm.

Is 20% change a good estimate? Or less?
