I have just noticed that one of my Leopard Danio's looks bloated & Is a little pink just under the rear fin. It is also staying at the bottom of the tank - it moves if i go near it however. I read on google that this may be dropsy, but the scales etc all look healthy - any advice on what this could be?
Thanks

Have you seen the fish poo at all?

Possible constipation. Try feeding some mushed de-shelled peas.

Cheers i will try that, ive not seen any of them poo to be honest, but the other 2 seem fine, allthough one of them is getting fat aswell. I usually feed them flake and dried bloodworm - alternate days.

How long should it take to return to normal if it is constipated?
Thanks for the help :good:

Right quick update - it is swimming around fine now! Maybe it was tired and escaping the light? However is this level of bloated normal?

That fish does seem quite bloated. Although I have a long fin zebra danio who has been permantly "fat" for 2 years now. Maybe it's a "she" and "she" has eggs to drop soon?

Should not take to long to return to normal if they are constipated. Also be careful with feeding bloodworms as those are quite rich and are known to cause problems with fish sometimes if fed to often.

Ok thanks, hmm i hadnt thought about eggs! How long do they usually take to lay them? (ive had a search - but cant find any info)
Also would it be ok to transfer the fish to a new aqarium whilst its like this? As my new one will be setup & cycled in a couple of weeks, or would it be best leaving it for a while?
Thanks for the advice once again!!

Surely it's a little too bloated for that?! It looks like a case of constipation or dropsy to me!
