We just got a new fancy goldfish on Sunday, and he is cuurently in the quarantine tank. I was wondering how long to keep him there before I can be reasonably sure he is not carrying any diseases? I was thinking 10 days? Or maybe longer? Thanks!

I would say a week is enough time, most deseases/illnesses will make themselves apparent within that time if the fish is infected with them, whitespot is the desease to look out for i would say the most.

2 weeks is the best time really in the majority of cases.

although in some cases 3week/1 month can be recomended.

My personal experience with plague fish has changed my quarentine time to 30 days. I used to go for 2 weeks but it just wasn't long enough. Since I keep swordtails, if they are pregnant when I get them it usually is a long enough period of time to get them through the pregnancy and birth without overly stressing them.
