Hi there
Just wondered if anybody here knew whether it was safe to allow a lemon tetra in a tank with an Angel fish, the only reason i ask, is i have had these two fish together in my community tank for months, my partner has just been to the pet shop to purchase some new fish and was asked what was currently in his tank, he was then told to immediately remove the tetra, and leave it a full week before adding any new fish.

Is this right???

Thanks in advance

i dont see that you should remove the tetra they should be ok its neons thats not advisable but even then its possible i kept my angel in a tank with 8 green neons then one day i put 2 in the which i got from my lfs in with other fish by accident and it ate the 2 blue ones but never touched the green weird huh but ne ways you will be fine.

So the main issue is the risk that the Angel fish will eat the tetra? as the tetra is pretty big, much bigger than any neon i've ever had. They dont even go anywhere near each other the Angel stays at the top half of the tank, and the lemon stays at the bottom. I thought it was bizaare, lfs said it would be ok if it was a neon tetra, but lemon's are a big no no. I think all these places have their own versions of fish keeping.

Thanks for your advice Mark

I would have thought the main risk was not the lemon tetra being eaten, but the fact that they have a reputation for fin-nipping

lemon tetra's are too big like dwarfgoruami said it's that lemon tetra's can be very nippy so will attack the angels fins.

:good:
