Any body got any advice about removing a leech infestation from a fish pond. my dad hasnt rinsed his new plants and now he has a massiive infestion. his pond is 16 foot by 10 foot by 4 ft deep so emptying it isnt an option.

they are diffinatly leeches and not nematodes as i thought they was when my dad explained what they looked like but having seen them they are deffinatly leeches. all i can think of is to starve the fish in a hope that they try and eat them all.

Depends what sort of leeches mate, not all of them are bad!! We have loads of leaches at work in the pond and filter, most species you are likely to come accross are actually snail eaters.

Other than that, I would have thought that a parasite treatment or two with Flubendazole or "Fluke M" made by Kusuri (pond size pack of Discus wormer) will at very least knock back the numbers if not wipe them out, certainly wont hurt the fish to be treated.
