I have a 64ltr tank with two 15w white bulbs. Great lighting in that tank.

I have 17ltr tank that I want to have a white overhead light that will give the same lighting size to size as my bigger tank.

On Ebay there are overhead LED light bars that would suit my 17ltr tank.

My question to members is this:-

What is the LED equivalent to normal WATTS I have in my bigger tank?

I've seen led tank lights in my local pet shop and to tell the truth I'd get more light from a match.

Try and do a google search for the PAR rating on each brand/model. Then compare that to the PAR rating of the lights on your 64 ltr tank.

I recently used PAR ratings in a search and found out that my new (and expensive) LED lights are actually considered High Output. I had no idea when I bought them. And now I know I need to watch out for algae growth in that tank!

In LED lighting watts aren't as important as they are in T5 or other standard bulb lighting as LTygress said what matters in LEDs is the PAR rating that's what determines the output of light in an LED. So depending on what you want to keep in that tank you will need different amounts of PAR for getting low, medium or high lighting.

ATM I have a Interpet Pod 64ltr tank. It has two 15watt white light bulbs. I'm happy with the light they produce.

I also have a small 17ltr tank that I'd like to get a overhead light contraption that will give the same light in ratio to my 64ltr tank.

I have 2 female guppies with loads of babies in the small tank and 8 male guppies in the bigger tank.

All this "PAR" stuff has confused me something chronic. With the info I have posted so far about my main tank can any member post a link from Ebay of a suitable overhead light for my 17ltr nursery tank that will give the same white light effect as my main tank?
