Hi folks I'm getting an LED airstone that makes an air curtain at the back of the tank but i have just thought will this be ok with the heater being on the back of the tank? or will the bubbles make the heater think the water is colder than it is? thanks

I wouldn't like to say whether the bubbles will affect the thermostat or not. However, the bubbles will affect the efficiency with which heat is transferred to the water, because there will be less water on the surface of the heater. It could potentially cause the heater to overheat, although that is a gut instinct, I've never actually experimented.

You could put the heater on one of the sides.

I'm not sure which brand of LED airstone you're getting (and this doesn't answer your question at all), but I got a Marineland one that is more of an air tube with blue and white LEDs and it does not make a curtain nor do the lights light up the tank well and I've actually had a few of the lights go out (I've had it since about October).
