Figured my oak leaf had dried out enough already, cleaned it really good with hot water and a tooth brush. Are leaves similar to driftwood, in the sense that they must be water logged before they will sink? Or do I need to add some sort of small rock on top of it? Right now, it is floating all over the place.

Also, on the driftwood, there appears to be some sort of lichen on the wood, do I just scrub this off really good? I don’t want to take a sharp edge to it, because it will ruin the look of it. Suggestions?

Give them a day or two, they will sink :)
