I have algae. I had algae growing all over one of my cool fake rocks. So what do i do? boil it and turn the rock to mush :stupid:

What sort of algae is it? Green;brown;slimy?

What type of "rocks" did you have? Rocks shouldn't just turn to mush if boiled unless they are limestone/sandstone or somthing...

Or fake... as in plastic :p

it wasn't a real rock it was a fake rock. The kind that has a hole on either end so it can fill up with water to have weight. it's plastic i think. i put it in boiling water and within seconds it started warping. derrr. :D

edit: oopps missed that post

do you think i'll be able to put it back in the aquarium or maybe i boiled off some protective sealant. dammmm!! i loved that rock

lol - we live and learn every day. That was a funny story ;)
But I wouldn't put the rock back and take the chance. If you imagine what burnt plastic smells like and the chemical changes that happen when heated, I think it's not a good thing.
