I have a 22gal Juwel tank and recently I've noticed around the base of the tank there is a sort of dry crusty residue, looking closer there is a slightly damp look to the base of the plastic (that joins the base and the sides of the physical tank).

The water level has seemed to dropped over the last week so I'm assuming the tank is leaking, although slowly it is a problem and obviously if it's leaking it may only be a matter of time before it completly splits.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with this, either with the Juwel range of tanks or generally. Would siliconing the joins be the best plan?

In that case I would have to move the fish out temporarily so how long would silicone take to dry (obviously the silicone designed to be save with fish).

Thanks

Try filling it up and monitor the water levels and see how fast it goes down and if it goes down faster than normal you may have to put the fish in a spare tank or see if lps will hold your fish and let you run your filter in one of their empty tanks while you empty the tank and silicone it. Not sure how long till it would dry but I imagine that the silicon will say on container how long it takes to dry.

dont kno if you could actually do this so wait to see what people think but....

you could maybe devise some way of dividing the smaller tank you have and putting everybody in there whilst you repair the tank.

some sort or netting or wire meshing.

has to have holes in neway so the tank can keep filtered and heated.
