Lead Weights On Moneywort

I just bought some money wort plants that have lead weights on them. My question is should I take off the weights pr leave them on? Right now the weights are keeping the plants bunched together but I could just take the weights off and bunch the plants together.

Take them off and use the substrate to hold the plants down. The weights will restrict root growth.
