What's your views on lead strips in tanks?
I've had a few conversations lately about people telling me not to use them for weighting plants down etc but I've used them for years and never had any problems whatsoever.
Any suggestions on what else i could use.
I have sand substrate so the plants need to be weighted down fairly well due to my large African albino frog and my large Syno etc.

I have used them, everything has been fine, but I always worry about lead poisoning, I think the lead forms a layer of unreactive lead oxide on the outer layer as soon as it is exposed to oxygen, so it shouldnt be a problem ;-)

I don't think the modern plant weights are made of lead anyway (can't remember where I read/heard that though!).

Depends where you get your plans from, some give ceramic rings..other give lead;-)

lol, yeah, I meant the metal strips aren't actually made out of lead

Graphite possibly? That's what pencil lead is made from

Just been told i could use part of a stocking cut up into a small pouch and filled with the substrate in your tank and then tied and planted?
Sounds possible so might have a try!
