Lazy Betta !

Hiya all..Just a quick question about my betta.. Over the past few days he has got very lazy..Yesterday when I looked in the tank I thought he was dead as he was lying on the plant looking very lifeless When I gently tapped the tank he shot up and started swimming normally.. So that happened a few times y-day..He seems okay just now..Is there something wrong with him or is this normal Betta behaviour?? Anyone else have a Betta that does this??

Hi Heather,
Sounds fairly normal if he's resting on top of a plant. Fighters like a resting place near the top of the water so it just sounds as though that's what yours is doing!

Thankyou Stang.. Little lazy Betta I have I did get a fright y-day though..I thought he was dead Atleast I know now..lol

No problem.
As long as he's eating and his behaviour is ok, then you've nothing to worry about.
One of my Bettas has a habit of hiding, I frantically search the tank and he pops his little head out. I swear they do it on purpose!

Playing hide and seek with you... Yeah he is eating ..not much though.. What is a good type of food I could get him? The stuff he has the now is called bettagran but I dont think he is too keen on it.. xx

Steve sleeps like that at night. He picks a plant and lies down on the leaf and has a snooze. Its cute. Khan uses his little greek pot or lies on top of the filter. Its sweet. Theyre juts lazy.

Try Atisons Betta Pro if you want a different food. My 2 didnt like the betta gran but they absolutly LOVE Atisons Betta Pro.

if you watch you'll ssee other fish doin it too.
Neon tetras float at funny angles and go a dull colour; thats them sleeping.
Then corys just hang out in groups just lying there.

Glass catfish, we've noticed, hang in the water at an angle to rest.


I like to think that all fish sleep. Cos its cute.

My neons do that aswell, 1 of them must be really sleep 'cos he does it during the day aswell!
It is cute though, but I havent seen my bettas sleeping yet

Yeah Iv noticed my neons in the morning when I turn the light on..They are floating about and are faded looking..Also my angelfish too..With my betta its not just at night he rests its through-out the day aswell..

Our neons sleep during the day sometimes too. They're awake now cos Steve is chasing them. They're far more active since Steve decided to play chase with them. Bless.

you know what if you wanna try and get another food try these betta pellets and the pack looks like a fish
thats what i give him and when i feed him he trys to find the food very quickly.

Today I bought some frozen bloodworm..Held some in my fingers for him and he came straight up and tugged them out my hand..So atleast I know he loves them..
