Hey there for simplitiy sake I've got a fish that is similar to Silver Dollar for the past month it has developed visiable fungus on it's tail, its tail is ripped and ragged (not biting as there are no aggressive fish in the tank) and it's poor body is covered in a light very thin layer of a cotton white funges on a few areas. The other silver dollar type fish only has a bit of a ripped fin but nothing that I would be concerned about. In the tank are cories so I'm not going to directly add salt to the water and I'd like to treat the fish in that tank and not remove it to a quarintent tank because that is currently not an option (long story would require it's own thread). Can someone please suggest some options. I've been treating the fish for over a month now with fungus cure and doing a 25% water change every four days (as recominded).

I guess what I mean to say it I've done research on it and I'd just like to hear someone elses suggestions or ideas.
Thanks in advance!

I belive there's a bacteria that causes symptoms similar to that of a fungus... Perhaps that's it? That's about all I can think to suggest or say right now, other than to check out the pinned topics in the Tropical Fish Emergencies.

Good luck!

it sounds like a bacterial disease- caused by Cytophga.
the best treatment is Myxazin(UK) or similar medications

Also increase the aggitation of the water and raise the temp to 82f

I've got three filters running in the tank so aggetation is normally maxed out. I haven't concered a baterial infection before. Tommorow it looks as if I'll be making a trip to walmart to purchase a new heater (just found out mine was on the fritz). Tommorow morning I'll call up a few pet stores to see if they carry Myxazin but reading the description provided on the net about the product it kinda of just like a stronger verison on melafex. Here is another thing I'm thinking. Does anyone else happen to get mold growing somtimes where they feed there fish from fish food that hasn't fallen in the tank. Could perhapes? the dieases that the fish are experancing be a result of a poorly keep lid (while I did do weekly water changes the lid and tank glass were left unclean for two weeks durning exams).

I don't know perhapes I'm not descibing the problem well enough or perhapes there is somthing I'm falling to see, but all in all it's pretty depressing. He still has a hunger at supper time and is active durning the day so it hasn't gotten the best of him yet and no one else seems to be infect so I guess there is the positive note.
