well took a spawn from my pk male and my marble vt girl this afternoon. they have been in a divided tank all week getting to know each other. i put the female in on tuesday night and there wasnt much happening, then the female dumped a load of eggs on the floor of the tank and ate them, so i put her back on her side of the tank and she continued dumping so i left her till the morrning to see how she looked in the morning. she looked still prety plump and eggy so i fed her up for a few more days. she was displaying to the male nicely last night so i poped her in with him, lots of chasing and flirting but still no cigar, she was getting prety beat up so i put her back on her side. this afternoon she was looking keen as mustard so i put her in again and within a couple of minutes they started wraping under the nest. first few wraps produced no eggs, i expected that. then the eggs were flowing with each wrap, but the male completely ignored the eggs and continued displaying. ive spawned from this male before and he was a modle parent making sure he got every single egg, but this time he seemed like he was more intereted in just getting his end away! the female was gathering up the eggs but i think she was just eating them as she did not apear to put them in the nest unless she was doing during the wraps. after about 20 or so wraps, the male started to gather up the eggs into the nest inbetween wraps so i left them to it for an hour and came back to find them still at it, so went off to do a water change in another tank. looked over my shoulder to see how things were going to see the female being aggressively pursued by the male, he just seemed to click into defensive mode so i removed the still quite plump female from the tank. last time i took a spawn, the females belly was like a razor blade post spawning, but this one was still a bit plump so i think he cut it short a bit. he dont seem to be quite as atentive as he was last time, wanders away from the nest alot and i cant see any eggs in the nest, but i think hes put a layer of bubbles over them. fingers crossed eh.

yay! got babies! i saw him snacking on eggs in the nest, so didnt hold out much hope, but came home from work yesterday to find him looking after his nest with a few dozen wriggling babies in it! yay! well chuffed.

however, just home form work today to find alot of the babies are gone, wether hes been eating them of they have dispersed amoung the plants a bit im not sure, but il be removing him very soon...
