Has anyone done a large tank just full of small shoels of fish?

I always feel larger fish look bored in tanks, so was thinking of doing 2' + tank with lots of rocks and plants and maybe full of noeons and just shrimps maybe, like a mini underwater world,,

Hope you get what I mean lol and would love to see pics if anyone has done this.

That would be super cool! Like doing a 60g (227L) tank with large schools of glo danios and guppies and such. I would love to see pics of peoples tanks like this as well! :D

Ye , so neons would be great in shoals, but what other small fish would go well do people think?, I'm gonna go for this I think, and like in my other thread i was asking about building a large rockscape with caves and bits to pass through, and with shrimps crawlling about could look really good.

That video is insane. I want a tank that big lol 7m wide WOW

If you check out the link in my sig for my tank journal, I am putting together a 6 foot long tank, with ONLY species that grow 2-3inches in length.

6 foot tank - 110 Gallons

Current stocking:

24 bloodfin tetra - literally, added to the tank within the past hour.
3 Corydoras leopardus
1 Corydoras trillineatus

Future stocking:
Up to 8-9 C. leopardus, 8-9 C. trillineatus
24 cardinal tetras

Ultimately, this tank is going to be highly planted - still working on the plants... and heavily stocked with SMALL fish.  In the short amount of time I spent with the tank after adding the fish, I can tell you that lots of small fish in a big tank is the way to go.  No offense to folks who get big fish.  That may be what they want, but I love to see activity, and watching a dozen bloodfins go one way, while another dozen go another, and then they intermix, and switch groups... AMAZING looking!   MORE fish is only possible with SMALL fish.

I will be updating the journal in the next few days, and will try to highlight the activity of lots of small fish in a big tank.

My tank isn't what I would consider large, it's a long 55 gallon.  I have it stocked with 25 Glowlight tetras, 11 Panda corys, and a couple of Platys.  I love small fish in a larger tank.
Sand substrate and heavily planted.  It looks great!

Here's my (old; recently moved everything) 55g/4'

Stocking is 42 green neons, a dozen hatchets, nine glass cats and a BN

Ye emo kid that looks great, that's the look I want but with more rocks

Rock away mate ;)

When I stock my new tank, it's just going to be small fish. I've never really been into bigger fish, only small ones catch my eye. That's why things like Endlers, Mosquito Rasboras, Tetras, Scarlet Badis and Sparkling Gouramis are my favourites.

There are some really stunning LOOKING big fish, but generally, they aren't able to show their cooler behavior in tanks, because the tanks just aren't big enough for many of them to do it.

Bala sharks, for example, need a long tank just to be kept, but I don't think that you'd be able to really see them in their true nature in a tank, because they need NUMBERS and LENGTH...  How could you see that in a home tank?

I'll be watching this thread, because after keeping fish for a few years I've been thinking about doing this. I don't have really large fish now, but I'd like to get scads of small fish in my 55g.
