Hi, i've searched every place i can look, but i can't find the common name for this cichlid. i was wondering if anybody knew the name for this fish thanx!

Pearly ocellatus
a shell dweller? if that means anything to you, it don't to me

trade names for fish as a reference is a bad habit to get into. learning the scientific names are the more proper way to investigate fish. many times what one fish is called somewhere varies from where it is referred to another. scientific names stay true in any situation.

since you asked though, the trade names common for this fish are pearly ocellatus as danio stated and lacy lamprologus

thanx, i always look up fish by their scientific names but everytime i've tried to get one, all sites and/or fish stores (not even locally) have no clue except by common names.

if you know the common name then type it in
or if you know all or part of the scientific name put that in
or you can search by species like tetra, danio, chillid etc.

thanx guys that might help, i also found a local guy who i never knew was around here who actually has a Phd. in marine biology and specialized on african aquatic life. i'll be checkin out those sites, thanx again!

we were in caht and this whole string about picking noses came up
