Hi,

Does anyone know the care requirements of these two fish?

. Pundamilia Nyererei Makobe
. Pundamilia Senga Point

Any info would be very helpful.

Their care is really quite simple - very similar to Mbuna but omnivores rather than vegi and comparatively less agressive (but they are still cichlids!) - they're also from an African rift lake so would be best suited to higher pH etc etc. Also need some rock work in there and 1 male to every 3 females. The males of each are genuinel beautiful but females are comparitively dull. There is a bit of a gap online when it comes to Victorian Cichlid care but can share some interesting sites if you wanted.

What kind of set up are you thinking of?

thanks for the reply,

The website links would be great! I have been really struggling to turn up any good info on these two.

As for the setup, I'm not really sure.
I have a 3x1x1.5ft tank 120L i think and good filtration (1000L/h ish). I would like the decor to be just sand and rock.
My tap water is Hardness - 250PPM with pH8.5.
Oh and i will most likely be running an algae scrubber.

I would really like to try and breed Firemouth Cichlids, but I think this tank is a bit too small for them, what do you think?

I've never kept Pundamilia but think that 3ft would be a bit on the small side. 4ft would be much better. Males can be nasty. Seriously Fish is always a good starting point for research although I would always look for more opinions and sources to see if it backs up / contradicts what it says there. There are only a couple of specialist Victorian Cichlid sites that I've found.

Wouldn't know about Firemouths sorry. They've never appealed to me - maybe ask in the New World section. A tang setup would be quite an interesting alternative, and there are some members who've set them up recently and they look great.

I have taken a serious look at some of the tang's available and their requirements.
And i must say they are very appealing and well suited to my standard water stats!
Can you recommend anywhere I can browse through images of different Tanganyikan cichlids?

For some reason the online suppliers and my local breeders don't stock many at all, any idea why this is?
