ok, so my dad has these fish but is very over stocked now they are getting near full size  , i am getting a new tank next week and was thinking of taking some off his hands, my question being are there any plecs or larger catfish of any type that i could put in with these, i really really want want a plec, and this is the only thing putting me off having these cichlids.
Sorry to go on

oh and i dont really want it to be a huge bottem dweller eaither, new tank will be 240l.

if the google conversion is right 240 liters is about 64 US gallons, you could have a few pictus cats or some of the smaller synodontis species, both work well with africans. for a plec, i would get a bristlenose, the stay a good size. what type of cichlids are you getting?

well not sure of all the names yet as i said taking some off my dads hands, will have to check the names with him.
they are lake malawi think i am taking on around 6 and i know that 2 are cobalt blue zebra, and a male and female blue peacock, not sure on the other 2

if you want a more active catfish i would get 2 or 3 pictus cats, they like being in groups and are pretty active. i have 2 syno. longitrius(sp?) and they stay hide 99% of the time

Syno. Pertricola And Syno. Multipunctatus both work nicely, I prefer Petricola personally.

thankyou all very much, will be reading up on all the catfish u have suggested. I dont have any pics of the fish yet as they are still at my dads, my tank is too small and not picking up the new one till next week. :shout: if im still not sure what they are when i get them dont worry i'll be rite back nagging again.
At least it gives me chance to read up on it all now :good:
