kk basics, 40gal tank no lid african ciclids in tank....

ladybugs infest my house every year :( and ive noticeda few starting to appear in my fish tank... my fish gonna be introuble?

I'm not an expert, but my guess your fish are going to have a good delicacy snack. :)

I know they are poisonous to other insects and possibly birds, not sure if they are to fish.

funny, i was going to post the same question.
but i would say that as they are a bright colour which usually indicates poison i wouldn't risk it untill i had all the facts

I agree with ladybugs being poisonous, but it depends on the species (there are at least 10!) I would try to take them out of your tank if at all possible-no sense in taking chances especially with cichlids (voracious beasts).

i keep pulling them out... i dunno if theyve ate any yet...

um, if thats the case, maybe a temporary lid is in order here to keep them out........

You could probably even make a temp lid out of cardboard or something. But that would be for a short time because Im sure it would get soggy. If you wanted something more permanant wood or plexiglass should work. Does anyone know how long the ladybug season is???

Some supposidly eat afids (out side) I personally don't think they eat anything inside-they just come it through the doors (because they are stupid)

they try to come in for the winter to sleep here or something, they dont last long...

+++ ive tryed a bunch of random lids,(for other things) none work... either way they aint hurt nothing yet, yet being the key word...

fyi i try to kill um before they make it past my window :p
