I got this plec yesterday believing it to be an L168 Butterfly Plec but it seems to be quite a bit darker than other pictures I have seen of this same plec. My substrate is white sand so I was assuming that once I got the plec home and settled it would start to appear a lot lighter than it did on the dark substrate it was on in the shop I got it from so I'm not too sure if it really is an L168 Butterfly and could be an L052 Butterfly instead or a different type of plec altogether? Butterfly plecs are chameleons almost.(I always wanted one of them) They can change dramatically in colour. He does look like an L 168 to me. Here's the link with the specifications from planetcatfish.

It is definitely Dekeyseria.

Try and get some more photos in a few days when it is completely settled, I'd lean towards 168 at this point.

So would I; I have an LO52 and yours looks a lot different.

Lovely fish!

About 20 minutes after my original post I noticed he'd started to go a bit lighter. By far the least shy plec I've got. Never seen him in a cave yet

Great plecos, the nicest of the pure algae eating types in my opinion. I am so jealous. I have to settle for a bristlenose and a common pleco
