Has anybody had any problems with L A C Fish Tanks, I have just bought one complete with Filter and am disgusted with the company, The filter was very noisy after only about 8 hours of running and after ringing the help line I was told to wash the filter out and smear Vasaline on the spindle, put it back and everything should be fine.

Well I did this and it was okay for a couple of hours and then it started being noisy again, you could hardly hear the TV for the noise.

Took it back to the shop who said all Filters from L A C are noisy and it would get better in time.

Tried to contact L A C 4 times and although they read my emails, will not contact me or confirm an address where I can send the faulty Filter Pump back to.

I am only starting out and have no fish yet, just as well since the Filter has been in and out of the tank like a yoyo.

Woild welcome your comments.

Sounds like the shop is trying to tell you that this is normal for this filter... If it were me under those circumstances I'd tell the shop where I bought it that any filter that was is noisy that it inhibited normal television viewing was not fit for purpose and demand a refund, or an alternative replacement.

Filters do not get quieter with use or need "running in." Take the thing back and say it's a heap of crap and you want to exchange it. As it is not working as it should you are sctually entitled to a refund although you'll probably be happy to exchange for something else. May I be cheeky and ask how much you paid for the set up?

Well, thanks for yor comments but regret that the shop did'nt want to know, and I eventully went to another pet shop and bought a new filter pump, the cost was not bad and it runs as quiet as a mouse.

What I think is disgusting is the manufactures L A C , they just could not be bothered, they would not even reply to my emails, or as invited, comment on this thread.

The Tank is great I have no problems with that, although it is taking sometime to clear the scum caused by the Vasline which they advised me to put on the Pump.

Eventully I hope to get some fish in the tank.

Sory forgot to answer your question about cost, the tank was £100 which included the faulty pump I spent around £150 as a starter with the shop.
