Up here in Buffalo, NY USA I cant find Kuhli Loaches anywhere. I want a pair of them so bad to go along with my cories and plecos. Every store I call says that they are not available. Is that the status overseas as well? Also if anyone can give me a good website with pictures and info on them it would be much appreciate. Google searches dont do them justice. B)

Thats a shame - I know 2 shops within 1 mile of each other in the UK that had shed loads of Kuhlis.

Looks like a puffer to me.

I have only seen kuhli (or coolie depending on who spells it) loachs in a pet store once and since it was a bad store I wouldn't buy them. From what some pet store employees have told me (and I know that I should take it with a grain of salt the size of Mount Everest) kuhli loachs are hard to breed (if they have been bred which some people tell me they haven't). Since they are hard to breed they are more rare than the more easily bred fish. Don't know if its true....

I can't find a good store to get them from either. Just got a DoJo loach last night, hes great. I wanna get more and mainly I want to get a few kulhis. But no one really stocks them here. Gonna have to have a store special order them for me. :)

They seem pretty rare. I've also heard that they don't breed much in captivity, and availability is spotty.

I found one shop 100 miles away that said he was getting in a shipment of 120 ... two days after I was there.

yeah they are plentiful in australian i got like 8, there was a bit of a drought in them a few months ago, i think somebodys breeding them in big ponds somewhere

I have got 4 of them but they are tiny!! Also, I have not laid eyes on them since they went into my tank on Friday!!

They must like it!! What self respecting loach wouldn't? Sand, plants, masses of bogwood....

:p

at my lfs they have tons of black kuhli and striped kuhli and thats like 2 hours from buffalo

glovers (my lfs) is always stocked with them, they alternate between black kuli loaches and kuli loaches....

they also have sucking loaches but didnt like them cause they stick to the side of the tank and thats my plecs space!

Hi Billsjunkie :)

I live on Long Island and my lfs gets them in once in a while. It seems like they get them for a few weeks and then are without them for a period of time. It's the same with the weather fish and horsefaced loaches, too.

Here's a good link:
