What do they eat?

I have 9 of them, looking for more at the lfs though, and well what do they eat? I drop sinking shirmp pellets in at night, and they are gone in the morning, but they disolve pretty fast and my other fish eat them too.

I've never really seen they eat anything unless some flakes float right infront of the cave they stay in.

I've had them for a very long time feeding them this way, so they must eat something, but I have no idea? maybe they eat whatever is on the bottom like my cory (only one, I think he is lonely, but with 9 kuhli's at the bottom too, I think the bottom is full) does, but at night?

I love the kuhli's, when you have a few of them they seem to almost play tag and is very entertaining to watch.
I want 15 of them, but they are hard to find.

this is a 50 gall with very good filtration and perfect levels.

Hi jeffrey :)

A group of 9 kuhlis must be great fun to watch, indeed! :fun:

Kuhlis love blackworms or tubifex worms. They particularly like the live ones, but the frozen ones are good too.

Corys are schooling fish and really should not be kept alone. They are easily frightened and more shy by themselves. A 50 gallon tank has a bottom that could easily accommodate your loaches and 2 or 3 more corys if you are not overstocked in general. Please give some thought to this.

thanks,

the black worms and tubiflex, where do I get live ones?
my LFS only has frozen and died foods. or are they something that have to "hatch" or something?
I was hoping that soem food they really like would get them to come so I can watch them eat too.
Cause while they do come out during the day, its not all the time, and I would like at least a bit when I know I will be able to see them

the 9 are fun, but I want more, I seem to only be able ot find 1 or 2 at a time. and they really dont like being in a small group.

My tanks not to over crowed (depends whos standards you go by), but I notice that the cory likes to hang in the cave with the kuhli's, but when he is out kinda hides.
I have an albino right now, But think the panda cories are neat. but I like the white against all the black sand.

I don't think many places do live worms etc now because of problems with disease (at least, that's what my LFS told me!), but frozen ones are absolutely fine - I give my fish a cube of frozen bloodworms every 3 days, and they go absolutely mad for them!

i bought some small sinking pellets for my kuhlis, they were recommended but snubed by the loaches, mine seem happy enough eating flake crushed in the water coloumn so its really fine, this along with the odd treat of blood worms seems to do the job
