Hi, I have a bredding pair of Kribs,

just wondered if they are ok in a community tank with Guppies, Neons, Angels, and Mollies.

What do your Kirbs live with?

Thanks

I have bred Kribs on numerous occaisions.

They should be fine with the neons (Paracheirodon innesi?? i assume you are referring to tetra not rainbows), but i am quite sure that they will be constantly nippy towards the angels their long filamentous fins are asking to be attacked. As the clutch nears hatching / actually hatches you will prolly find that the male krib will herd ALL of the other fish into one corner of the aquarium in order to protect the fry... very entertaining but not so crash hot if you aren't a krib and have been reduced to a living area that is a 5cm cube.

I would suggest moving the angel fish, but keeping the neons, they make excellent dither fish and ensure that the female krib doesn't get harassed by the male either.

Hope this helps.

I had angels in with my kribs in a 46 gallon tank and everything was fine. My angel was still pretty small though, so in a 46g, there was plenty of room for everyone. I had to return the angel b/c of the stupid serpae tetras, not b/c of the kribs.

The kribs have pretty much killed all of my cories, but everything else is just fine.

2 kribs
2 severums - 2-3"
10 serpae tetras
3 neon tetras
1 cory cat

I have heard this happen quite a few times on here but I have four corys in with a pair of kribs and they get along just fine.

The kribs don't even bother when the corys accidentally end up in the kribs "territory".

just luck i suppose :dunno: or maybe its the Temazepam I inject into my kribs food to keep them chilled out! ;)

That was a JOKE by the way!!

The main trick is to avoid anything that would share the kribs territory or be seen as a threat or competitor. This mainly includes bottom feeders and other cichlids. Anything else, within reason, is fair game. I wouldn't go with a small and timid fish like a neon because they may feel the stress of the cichlid aggression even if they aren't being targeted, but it seems to work well enough for others. Any characins will appreciate a decent shoal for security. Rasboras will work too.

When it comes to cichlids sometimes things will work, sometimes they won't, so always keep your eyes open and try to play the odds in your favor by avoiding risky livestock. Little peaceful catfish like cories may work, and I must admit has worked for me in a krib tank, but are best avoided nonetheless.
