I've been trying to determine for weeks what my two kribs are. They are supposed to be a male and female - but I'm not convinced of that. I've done a bit of research and still cannot tell. Several sites show a picture of a male and another of a female and they look indentical to me!

My kribs are still young -- only 2 inches. Neither of their bellies are very red. The only time they looked very red was when I first introduced them to the tank. Now they are just a pale shade of rose.

The one that is supposed to be the female will chase the other one around the tank on occasion.

One has a bright beautiful orange band on the dorsal fin and the other has a cool shade of blue on the dorsal fin. Does that mean anything? Both have spots on their tails - but also read that does not necessarily mean anything.

Any other way to tell?

Thanks, Bettas! Both links are extremely helpful. I believe I do have a male and a female. But the one I thought originally was the male is actually the female and vice versa!!
