if you read my post sunday about having 2 male kribs where 1 was bullying the other making him stressed and lose all his colour this will make sense if not and you can be bothered i think its on page 2 titled kribs females. ( dont know how to link to it sorry) well i went to see paul at seapets and he swapped me a female krib for the stressed male. i did the usual aclimatisation etc then introduced her. the male immediately aet about beating the hell out of her!!! so i put in some bloodworm to pre-occupy him in the hope he would leave her alone.

well it worked a treat. after they had all finished feeding i returned to the tank and male abd female were swimming around as a pair , in fact they are now totally inseperable. even to the point where they have "set up home" in 1 of the rock caves i made . the males colours are now even stronger and all is looking rosy . so paul_mts a big thankyou to you fella

i dont think she is big/old enough yet. she is only about 1 3/4 inches at the mo but lovely colours. and there is some deffinate flirting going on. best way i can describe it is that he will kinda posture a bit and vibrate his body then she responds in much the same way. she sits in the cave and he keeps guard

having said that i know nowt about when they reach maturity

She is mature. and great news! Better hjave a spare tank for fry! Hope all turns out well.

cool so is this body vibrating ( only way i can think to describe it) courtship behaviour? basicly she stays in the cave mostly and he stands guard making sure nothing comes too close. every now and then he gos into the cave with her and that is when this body shaking takes place. have been watching them like a hawk and havnt seen any obvious spawning just this behaviour

Yes, that is spawning behaviour. She is basically saying " Hey YOU!" " Look how big and prupley red my stomach is!" "im very fertile"! And then, they breed.

well things seem to have taken a big turn for the worse. the female is at the surface gasping as if lacking oxygen. tested water all stats fine all the other fish are fine too she is the only 1 doing it. not happy. could she have something wrong with her gills maybe?

i had a similar problem, the kribs didnt suffer but a few others did and like dave asked, are you pumping air into the tank?

what size tank do you have?

in my Rio 180 i have a 28" bubble wall to help oxygenate the water
