My LFS has some Kribs and I was wondering if they will be ok in my 22gal tank (see sig for 'inmates').

They also have some Bolivian Rams which are really nice, also Dwarf Cockatoo's - are these ok (obviously not all in the same tank!)

Your thoughts would be appreciated - potentially getting them tomorrow.

Thanks!

Is that starlight bristlenose the kind that gets to 8"? I can't remember L numbers but, if it is, you should consider how much waste it will be producing once full grown and be very careful with your stocking. Anyway, as you have 2 panda cories in there, you are best off avoiding these cichlids altogether. Particularly with pandas which are quite fragile cories, the group they are in is much too small to discourage attacks - which are very likely to occur if you have a breeding pair of cichlids defending the lower levels in your tank. Otherwise, all of them could work (would lean towards bolivians myself - kribs are a little more aggressive - also happen to be african - and the cockattoos are apistos so should be kept as a trio rather than as a pair so, obviously, they take up more room). The bolivians are also the smallest out of those 3 and hardier than the cockatoos (though kribs are hardy as well). The betta could also pose a problem though, being a plakat, he is less likely to get nipped by a breeding pair of cichlids. I would probably be more concerned about him and the cichlids not getting along because both are territorial and 22 gallons isn't all that much room.

edit: Also watch that plakat doesn't turn on your honeys. You've probably heard this a million times before - bettas and gouramies don't mix. One day they'll be best friends - the next they'll all be dead except for one tatty survivor.

I wouldnt put anything else in that 22gal tank let alone a pair of kribs.

I had a pair of kribs which lived peacefully with everything in the tank until they decided to breed. All hell broke loose. If you must have a krib just get a single specimen
I also bought 2 Bolivian rams and had to rehome one within an hour or 2 of putting them into the tank due to one continually bullying the other.
However I do have 1 bol ram and 1 female krib living in my 3ft 28ukg tank. They are not fond of each other but there is no fighting
I was advised in these forums that both kribs and bol rams will live quite happily by themselves

I'm well aware of the fish per " rule but I'm well under this at present as most of the fish are young, the starlight BNP is young also and I have a good year or two before it gets anywhere near 8" by when I will have my new tank in operation. My vitattas doesn't get much bigger than it is now (2.5").

Ok, so general consensus is don't bother with bolivian rams or cribs.

Thanks

Your tank is full, with 4 gourami's, cory cats, and a pair of rams already in the tank you should just be letting them grow into it - you may find yourself removing some as it is.
