Hey all,

One of my male krib has been showing interest in one of my females. He has found himself a nice cave(a L shaped pipe) he has been taking small stones off the bottom of the pipe and placing them outside. When the female enters the pipe the male will go up to the entance and vibrate his body, the female also does the same and she belly goes red. But when she is outside and away from the pipe he chases her around the tank.

Is this signs of pair or is the male no interested?

Temp 26/78, ph soft, nitrite 0, ammonia 0

definately sounds like you have a pairing there.
good lusing the fry.

heres an update on my kribs. still no action in the tank apart from the female getting a fatter(pic below).
Also feeding them on blood worms and brine shrimp and keeping the tanks temp around 80f. And the weekly 20% water changes. Is there anything else i could do to condition the pair for breeding???? :/

Just have some patience, it sounds like things are going in the right direction. Be careful not to overfeed too much since obesity can interfere with egg production.

Do you mean the blood worms and brine shrimp are the only food they get?

thanks for the feedback i feed them the frozen food as a treat, their main diet is 2 different types of flake food

Oh, she's getting pretty and quite fat! Their breeding behaviour is a joy to watch, especially if you've got a good pair. Good in the sense that squabbling is not so intense. What size tank and who's in there with them?

it is fun to watch, the male hasnt been to aggressive latey to the other fish. My tank is 29 gallon and the pair have made their nest at end of the tank so it gives the other fish room to get away. Their tank mates are platies, mollies and angels
