hi, i was wondering if a 10 gallon tank is big enough to house 2 or 3 kribs (1 male, 1 female or 1 male, 2 female) i just want a small tank so i can put some kribs in. if this is ok what should i use for the inside, like sand or gravel, heavily planted or just some plants, what else like wood, and caves, any help is needed becuase i am new to cichlids and i hear kribs are really good hardy beginner cichlids. anyways like i said any help welcome!

a pair of kribs need at least a 20 gallon long tank. i had two flower pot caves in mine, one for each krib. a pair of males won't work, as they fight. same with the females, but not as much i think.

the best thing would be a male and female, but then your chances of breeding are extremely high and that means that you can't keep other fish with the kribs (kribs will attack/kill them).

i dident mean keeping 2 males together, i meant 1 male and 1 female, and really a 20 gallon! i have been doing research in the last 10 or 20 minutes and it says a pair of kribs can live in a 10 gallon, any more feedback would be great, my friend also tells me that he has housed a male and female krib in a 10 gallon before with out any problems, i he says he is going to send me pictures.

anyways all the more feedback the better i guess! i cant complain (yet) lol

minimum is 15g; if you want tankmates with them, then you'd need at least a 20g.

HOWEVER, if that 55g is yours already, then you could try a pair in a 10g. just be on the watch for aggression once the kribs start breeding; i had a pair in a 60g that tried to kill each other each time they bred. if that happens, then just move the victim out for a few weeks until things settle back down. but be warned: if your kribs get a divorce, then they aren't going to reconcile so long as one of them is caring for fry.

really, i'd just get a pair of smaller apistogrammas to go in the 10g. that would be a lot less stressful, for both you and the fish. plus you'd have an easier time selling off any fry.
