Hi All,

I have a male and female kribensis, and have had for about 6 months probably. To start with, they were thick as thieves, digging nests and going well red around the belly, but this has changed.

About a fortnight ago, I noticed the female skulking about above the filter. I thought she was under the weather at first, but she doesn't seem to be. Water stats are consistently fine. She's feeding fine, and coloured well, but always stays pretty well hidden.

Then the other day I saw the male go for her really badly. Have they had a lovers tiff? Are they likely to make friends again? Do I need to rehome them/one of them?

I'm about to edit my sig to show the contents of the main tank.

Cheers,

Jules.

what size are they and who do they share a tank(size?) with?
any caves, rocks, pots, etc?

In a community exactly as detailed in my sig. There is a custom built cave, plus three flower pot caves- one of which they emptied out looking like they were going to spawn in, some time ago. There are also three decent sixed pieces of bogwood providing shelter, plus a small boat wreck they could in theory inhabit. There is a decent sized rock, plus the two 12" bubble curtains divide the tank into three quite nicely.

The male must be 3" and the female 2.5" but less bulky, not including fins.

Funny this should happen, but after a good few weeks like this they were hanging out together for the first time in ages, when I got back from work. It's night-time in there now so I can only see by the blue LEDs, but the male is in one of the pots, and I can't see the female. Hiding again presumably.

Any ideas?

My old pair of Rams did this about a year ago. They used to be fine, but after a few failed spawns, the male got really angry at the family. Dunno if this would be practicle for you, but mabye if it gets too bad seperate them for say a week, then reintroduce them. This worked for a while with my rams and actually it made things a heck of alot better.

Sorry I never got back on this, been out of the country. Anyway, they are getting along fine now. Good job there were plenty of spots for her to hide in though I reckon.
