Hello

I am thinking about breeding some Kribs in my 15 gallon. The thing is that i think they might eat the Cherry Shrimps. The Cherry Shrimps are about 2.5-3cm.

Will the Kribs eat them?

If so then i have a spare 10 gallon that i could set up for a pair of Kribs. With all the caves and plants, would this be adequate? Would a Internal filter be alright or will i have to get one of those air-powered filters so the fry dont get sucked up?

Thanks

Nathan

I'm not sure if this reply is too late for you...

Kribs can be fairly aggresive (read psychotic when breeding), I had to remove the corys I had in the tank with mine as they were taking a beating. Anything that inhabits the bottom layer of the tank is likely to get attacked by kribs although there are some exceptions, I've notice that my bristlenose and Kuhli loaches get left alone. My male krib will hunt down and eat Endler males & fry (before I removed them) and will sometimes chase the hatchet fish, so I'd guess that most shrimps would be attacked. I tried adding one of my amano shrimps to the krib tank but it just hid on top of the internal filter till I removed it from the tank...

Thanks for the reply.

It isn't too late. I decided not to go with Kribs. Since from what i have heard, they kinda ruin a community tank. I will probably still breed them in the future though. Thanks for the information about how they hunt other fish down. I will probably breed them in a species tank, now.
