Can anyone give me either links or info on these?
Im looking at smallish pretty fish to fit in my horizon tank, when my current fish have died, so im researching.
Also does maidenhead aquatics keep them?
Any pics would be greatly appreciated

Yeah i know lol no seriously ive grown out of the white clouds and im just thinking of different fish for when they do die (naturally) lol its either kribensis or shell dwellers.

Kribs are awesome fish, watching them change colour in a snap never gets old, very entertaining watching them interact with each other as they don't tend to turn when going small distances, they just kinda swim sideways or backwards to get where they are trying to go

Two of mine are currently picking up sand from under their slate cave to make it bigger; nothin' like fish with ambition lol.

Kribs can reach sizes of over 10cm long, a tad too bit for a Horizon 54L.

How about:
http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Apistogramma_agassizii
OR
http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Apistogramma_cacatuoides

Both of which are smaller than the Krib, just as peaceful and I think, a bit more colourful.

Ok thanx, i like them both but love the bottom link (cocatoo chichlid) :D will look them both up. ty

I'd go with The kribensis. They are easier to find than the other dwarf cichlids. And they breed easy in a community tank and they look awesome in there spawning colors.

Cheers,Garett :drinks:

but i thought they get too big for my tank?

Kribs are nice, I had 1 male to 3 female, once they paired up the other 2 females were bullied slightly, interesting fish and watching them colour up and interact with the other fissh is very nice, there are some other really nice dwarf cichlids though as previously mentioned:-
Macmaster's Dwarf Cichlid - Apistogramma macmasteri
Agassiz's Dwarf Cichlid - Apistogramma agassizii
Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid - Apistogramma cacatuoides
These are 3 of my favourites and all seriously considered once, bouht the Kribs on impulse nut never regretted it, saying all that you syill can't go wrong with shell dwellers, easy maintenance no nonsense fish, I'm glued to the tank as I write this lol :good:

How many typos in there

it says that the Agassiz's Dwarf Cichlid needs a tank of at least 75L so it would either be your first or the cockatoo one,
And someone said Kribs can reach sizes of over 10cm long, a tad too bit for a Horizon 54L

Ideally just stick with the Cockatoo. It's the smallest of the 3, the more attractive and the most peaceful, everything you need in a dwarf Cichlid. I've kept a group of 1M:2F in 50L before, as long as you don't keep anything else with them, that space is more than acceptable.
However, if you wanted it as a community fish, I am inclined to say just keep the one male but give him the choice of lots of hidey places. He will pick one spot and pretty much call it his own, make sure you also have some free swimming space as well, as he will like to stretch his legs.

Kribs can very easily reach sizes of over 10cm as I stated earlier, and are better kept in pairs, where as Cockatoos can go singulary as along as they have some hidey spaces and territory to look after.

Bottom Line: If you're planning for later down the line where you can dedicate a tank to a few cockatoos, fantastic - go with this idea and you wont be disapointed. If you're planning to add one to your already existing small community tank, go for it, but you'll never truly see their full potential.

Teay they can get a bit big, shame, also have a look at Borelli's Dwarf Cichlid - Apistogramma borelli, this is probable my favoutite one, a very lovely fish, have seen them and the others in various colour morphs, i.i. opal, super red , nice :good:

For easier access, thought I'd supply a link like I did with the others:

The fish Kiriyama mentioned.

A lovely fish, only grows about 1cm bigger than a Cockatoo.
