Hi all.

I have just bought 4 Kribs, currently I'm unsure how old and what sex they are as they dont have much colour at the moment. How old are Kribs when they start breeding? and when will they colour up?

I got mine about 5 1/2 months ago from a local breeder and they are now 8 months basically they hit about 6 months and the colour went mad! and before i knew it they had fry! they do get really aggressive so be warned but the first lot of colour came out at about 6-8 weeks

4 Kribs is a bad number, you really only want 1 male and 1 female in a tank.

krib females have a very dark, redish/pink spot across the hole part of the body, got any pics so we could tell you the gender? that would help alot and said before 4 is not a good number for kribs, 1 male and 1 female is best

Actually 1 male and 1 female is best. Kribs should be kept in single pairs - any additional fish are unlikely to be tolerated.

Have you got any pics? It's possible to sex Kribs even at a young age - the tail shape is quite different for males and females.

If their dorsal fins have developed enough you will probably be able to tell them apart.
The end of the males dorsal and tail fin should be pointed, and the female should have both rounded tail and dorsal fin.

yea. one on one is prefered. how big are they? and if you see two beating up on the others they're probably paired off. just be sure to have caves for em

They are nearly an inch. I think I have one definate male and one definate female!! the other two are hiding!!
