Ok so I'm not sure if my pair have spawned at all even though I believe they have twice as both times the female stayed mostly in the cave only to come out just the immediate area around it then back in she would go. But I have not see the male get the spawning colors such as the red belly himself. I've seen his stripe get darker but never the red belly yet. Is this normal or is it possible they have not spawned yet?

Normally the males get a red belly when breeding, but from what you are saying, it sounds like your pair are certainly thinking about it :)
When they have spawned, the female may never come out at all. Mine stayed in the cave for the whole time until the fry hatched and then only came out for short periods of time while the babies were still wrigglers. All this time, the male stayed just outside of the cave keeping watch for intruders

Well the first time I believed they did or tried it the male didn't stay outside the cave much and the female would pop out then go back in. Then believe she ate the eggs as she started swimming around. Second time the male did stay outside the cave most the time guarding but then the same thing happened again. So with this new tank set up and that hoping third time is the charm :p male's stripe is quite dark now but still now red belly.
