Hi,

My Kribensis fry have just hatched. I have a large (900l) planted community tank and currently the parents are doing a good job at protecting them.
I was wondering if I should just leave them to it or remove them and put in my quarantine tank.
If so, should I just remove the fry or parents as well.
The last time they breed I moved all to my quarantine tank, all was well for 2 weeks, then they laid some more eggs and eat the fry.........
Not too much of a bad thing I thought as at least I have a lot more eggs, but unfortunatly nothing came of the eggs!

What shall I do, just to note I have several fish that would just love to tuck into those juicy fry, including 3 large Angels......

Thanks

I have just left my babies in the tank and the parents chase off anything that comes near them

Well you could do this. Catch a little over half them and put them in the quarentine, in about a week after free swimming. And leave the others with the parents. You might want to feed BBS to your babies, they'll grow liek weeds on it!

My problem last time was that the parents started to breed again and eat them, so if I catch them all and put in quarantine tank, how soon should I remove the parents?
Also, you reckon best to leave in main tank for 1 week, why?
I managed to get some Interpret Liquid Fry No 1, is that okay?

Thanks

Yeah that works, it's just fry grow 2 times faster on Baby Brine Shrimp. Becasue they will be easier to catch, and wont be as " weak" as they would be after hatching.

I've found some Baby Brine Shrimp on eBay.
It says it hatches in 24 to 36 hours, do they mean once put in the tank?

No, you hatch in a Hatchery. They are saltwater. In my oppinion it is better to buy Frozen as it's alreadsy been hatched and frozen when they have thier yolk sac's( tahts why babie fish grow faster), less hassel, and you can better mesure how much your giving them, as after a first couple hours BBS kind of lose their nutritional value.

Next time I will buy frozen, as I'm having problems already.

I put 1 tsp of table salt into 500ml of tank water, added 1 tsp of BBS eggs, then left next to tank at room temperature. 60 hours later nothing!
The seller has advised to use tap water instead, do you think this will help?
Maybe I should not be using table salt?

I use tap water with marine aquarium salt for hatching BBS eggs. I simply put one litre of water in a bottle, add an aeration stone, and they hatch in 12 hours! Make sure though you have a container which is transparent, then you lift up the container and look from the bottom; you will see them all swimming in the water....

I then sieve them through some stockings, and rinse them. Then I feed them with a small siphon.

Thanks guys, I reckon the temp is about 20, although I have not measaured, I was told to keep at room temperature.
I'm not using any airation.
I had slight success with my tap water/salt mix, although only about 5%.
But then an hour after I witnessed some swimming there was no action at all.
My RO/Salt mix had 0% success along with my tank water/salt mix.
I'm gonna give up, where can I get frozen?

At any good LFS. I get mine for 2 dollars ( E 1) for a block of it. But under NO circumstances, buy the thing at petsmart or anywhere elses that sells them in little seprerate cubes to drop in the tank. It is a great rip off. Dont buy it unless you want to want to waste money.
