Hey all, I'm new to krib breeding, as in I have a mated pair and just let them do whatever. From what I can tell, this is their second spawn. When I noticed the tell-tale behaviour last time, I found the eggs, but they were gone in the morning.

Luckily for me, the eggs are placed on the wall across from the opening, so I get to see what's going on in there. From what I see, it looks like she is kissing the eggs. I'm just hope she's not trying to eat them (again).

Is this normal?

she could be keeping them clean,,my female did that too but they hatched out ok.

They didn't make it through the night. It was only their second spawn, so hopefully better luck next time :)

I can only think it was one of them. He's (still) far to protective of the cave. She's barely 7 months old, and he may be 9 months (in my tank anyway). I'm not trying to breed them, and don't know what I will do if the fry actually make it since I don't have another tank to grow them in. We'll just have to wait and see :)

When the female kribs 'kisses' the eggs she is generally blowing water over them to keep the eggs well circulated and clean. That's all I know from my reading :p

This thread is kinda old but what ever became of the eggs?

Well... I'm guessing I found the eggs very late in the game, since today I saw mama and papa swimming around with 10 little fry!! I couldn't believe it! I thought papa was still guarding the cave because he didn't know they were gone or something, but nope; he was doing his job. I took a few pictures, but they are so little you can't really see them, so I'll try tomorrow when I can get the tripod out and mount the flash a little better.

OOOOo... I wanna see! That's so neat, your male knew what he was doing.

They are so tiny, and hard to photograph! I was able to get a few pics, and even from yesterday they have changed!

(sorry for the dirtiness... I was planning on cleaning the tank today, but they have been feeding on the plant matter back there, so it will have to wait a while)
