my kribs have laid eggs. i wasn't aware of it until i had noticed i hadn't seen my female for about a day which was unusual.
my male was also warning off my tetras. he was letting the cories get close but at about 2 inch away from the female, he must think is close enough and began warning them off too... which was very unusual.

anyway, i looked all around for my female and saw she had made a little ditch in the sand behind the cave i made for them and a leaf of my amazon sword seems to have bent over to make only one enterance to the spawning area.
whether the pair did that to the leaf themselves, or the leaf was in that way and she thought it was ideal, its still cute.
unfortunatly, the eggs were all white when i got the first sight.

i know its their first spawn, which i heard usually fails.
when dya reckon they'll spawn again?

i there anything i can do to prevent the eggs from going white?

my Kh level is at 9. is this too high for the eggs to survive?

Kribs will always breed. When my kirbs first breed, yes it went well, so i would guess the same unless the female gets too stressed and see will eat the eggs. If you dont want the eggs i suggest getting rid of them now! If you do, then let take it course.

Yes, most kribs and other cichlids first batch og eggs fail misserably, but i suspect they lay in 2 weeks. WOW, that is a high ph, i have never heard of anyone having a ph that high, nor my ph has ever gotten that high ( mines about 8.4) . But in most cases, if the eggs do hatch at such a high ph, they will be mostly or almost all male. I would just wait for them to spawn again to see what happens. It could be that the ph was so high that it damaged the sperm, or the embryo( though this usally happens when the water is too acidic). GOD LUCK!

lol no my Kh level is at 9.
i know neon tetras need a Kh level of about 2, but what do kribs need?

EDIT: my pH level is at 8

As far as i've always been aware, KH helped stablaize Ph, so, what does it have to do with anytihng? I could be sorely mistaken, and Kh could mean something, but i never knew it meant anything important, just helped Gh stabalize Ph. A Ph of 8 isnt bad at all. You will most likely have a batch mainley consiting of males, and a few females. I honestly wouldnt at all be worried with Kh especaially if they like your water enough to breed in!
