hi, about 6 months ago i gave my brother my breeding pair of kribs to put into his new tank. it is a community tank (juwel lido 120) and there have been no problems. but today a batch of fry hatched, and the male is guarding the babies by himself and attacking the female whenever she comes near. she is quite thin from being inside the cave with the eggs, so she doesn't seem to have enough energy to fight back, so is getting constantly chased about. this is not normal for them as they normally both guard the fry. i don't think i can leave them together, as i fear she will be killed, so do you think it would be best to but the female into my 4ft community tank?

when this batch of fry have grown up, i think i will introduce another of my female kribs to the male instead of the current female, as the other to females i have are both more aggressive than her, so i don't think they'd be bullied.

cheers :good:

If your 4-footer is not inhabited by any aggressive cichlids (especially any Kribs), plus there are no delicate bottom-dwellers in it, I'd say give her a holiday ;)

hi, the 4ft tank has 2 female kribs in plus about 12 juvis, but they don't seem to bother each other. i intend on getting rid of the 2 females, but i'll have to see how well they pair up with the male. it is quite well planted, so there are lots of hiding places.

i think i'm going to move her, because she is being bullied quite a lot by the male. :good:

in a 4ft i dont think they will bother eachother as long as there are plenty of hiding places :)
