Hi,

I inherited my Cichlid species tank and it already had a mixture of fish in there, Kribs, Zebras, Acaras.
They were and had been living happily together. (Some have said it is a weird mix, I know, but they are all healthy and I keep on top of good water changes and any new fish I have added have been healthy too)

I had them about a month and then moved them from a 2 ft tank to a 4 ft tank, and introuduced a couple more zebras and electric yellows.

I had this set-up going for about 3 weeks and then during a recent live daphnia purchase saw my LFS had got Kribs in, for a reasonable price, and I trust this fish shop entirely so I purchased a male krib. (I believe to the best of my knowledge it is a male as it has a longer dorsal fin and the circular coloured spot on it's tail fin and has a less colourful belly than my other one, that does not have the spot on it's tail fin - so I now think I have a male and a female)

First I put the male in my other Krib was aggressive towards it for the first day chasing it, but now they are inseperable, and are ALWAYS together.
My big Blue Mbuna (who I believe due to colouring and bright egg spots is a male) - it may be a coincidence but he has been hiding away a lot more and this morning I witnessed both him and the two kribs duelling.

Why would these Kribs have started this behaviour? Is it just that there is 2 of them now they think that they are unbeatable?
And why has my mbuna become both aggressive but hiding away also?

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance!!

That is not a good set up at all. You will have dead fish soon, if you dont remove the Mbuna. They are notoriously ag r essive, and i've seen them de-scale other fish. The kribs may be about ready to breed, therefore fighting off the Mbuna. But, eventually the Mbuna will win, they are a lot more aggressive and are usually bigger fish.

Better seperate the Kribs from the Mbuna immediately, or there's going to be BIG trouble. The Kribs can't defend themselves against the aggression levels of the Mbuna. The only fish suitable to keep with Mbuna are other Mbuna.
