I see some folks using these as water movement devices. If using these and keeping fish is there any concerns about fish being sucked into the grille.

Wouldn't think so..if concerned fit an innersleeve of fine plastic mesh such as gravel tidy...will need more regular cleaning then but as could be more prone to clogging up.
They have an optional 'redirector' part that comes with the unit. It has a grill that encloses the front end.
I never have any problems with fish getting in it. Have to clean it of debris each week though and every now and again see a snail being blasted to the other end of the tank. lol
My Espei Rasboras spend most of their time at the opposite end of the tank where the flow is at its max and seem to like trying to swim 'upstream' as it were. lol
After months of swapping about and repositioning of CO2 and filter equipment trying to get my CO2 working better in a high plant mass tank the Koralia sorted the problem in one go. Wasn't a CO2 injection problem. Was a flow problem. Best piece of kit I ever bought. lol. 'Tis darned easy to clean too
I have only a sml BOYU aquarium (MR398)
398Lx250Wx290H(mm)
Would a Koralia Nano be too much for this.
The tank has to serve 2 purposes one is a planted aquarium (naturally)
the other is a natural breeding ground for Rivulus xiphidius.
I dont want the tank spinning like a washing machine hence the question.

it is a bit much IMO, although i have seen it done before!! you want about 290lph, max i would go is 600lph (20x turnover). In a smaller tank, sirculation is much, much easier to achieve, so you wont need 900lph
