Hey Everybody!

Got my new kissing Gouramis bought two of them on monday! They are lovely!

Got the home and put them in the tank. Being known for they're nerves after being let out of the bag the swam straight for cover. They really are timid fish. I walk up to the tank and they would dart into the plants! (blooming poofs!)

But I thought to myself....they have just been captured put in a small bag and put into another bad and had their world moving with every movement I made and then put in a strange new environment! So I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Yesterday when I came home they still swan for cover but I was closer when they got scared.

Came down this morning and sat at the bottom of the stairs (in my house at the bottom of the stairs is where my fish tank is!) and the fish really did not seem bothered by my presence. So tonight I will be feeding them blood worms as a treat ad to encourage them to not be afraid of my presense :)

Reesy :good:

this may just be me but when i had kissers they would rather have an algae wafer than bloodworm lol
they should be me comftable with movement soon they are lovely fish hope they do well for you
regards scot :)

I've been reading up on them everywhere and one of the top tips is that when you feed your fish if there is any left over not to take it out of the tank....however that would contaminate the water so I dont want to do that.

The other tip was that when you do the regualr clean and water change they say not to user the algea magnet on the back glass as the algea that builds up on there will be eaten by the kissers. I'm going to try this first and if nothing happens then I will be getting the algea waffers.

Howeve they did very enthusiastically go for the blood worms that I fed the rest of the fish...so who knows? lol

i had mine for about ten years and they only spawned twice miserable things lol :)
youll find that when young they love to eat algae but as they grow older they lose interest (well dont clean the glass as avidly, mine anyways)
as i say they did eat bloodworm just mine had other faves
regards scot :)

Did your eat the flake food because mine didn't seem to interested instead they we just sucking/kissing the rocks and the plants?

bloodworms interested them enough so i'll see for now. next week i will buy the waffers and see if they eat them!

mine are only tiny maybe 2 inch max, and they tend to just kiss the bottom and sides, never noticed them eat anything , althought i do have alagae wafers in over night for the pleco so maybe they eat some of that..

When cleaning out the tank if you have stone and they look dirty leave them in there dont do anything to them. Reason I say that is because my stones were covered in dirt or whatever it was. As soon as I introduced the Kissers they were all over that like flies round crap!

They rocks are now sparkling with cleanliness! They are the fish that eat the food that is decaying on plants or stones more than they are the normal fish that go crazy when you put food in and trying to grab it before it gets to the bottem.

I am at the moment in the process of getting a camera. So I will then Post pictures of the tank and the Kissers.

if your going to try to breed them you will need lots of floating plants :)
scot :)

Nah I dont really want to breed them because I'll have to make room for the fry.

At the moment I have a fiance that will not let me have another tank in the house. SHe says that she doesn't like the fish but shes a damned lier! she loves them and wont admit it! blooming girl. Plus the next tank i get will be for a marine setup :)

where did you get them from

I got mine from my lfs.

They are lovly fish to be honest. They are extremly nervous when they are first in a enw environment but when you give them the time to adjust themselves then they will prove to be a very great addition to the community tank :)

well woth the money!

I used to have a 10" Kissing Gourami, which was sold to me with a old 4 foot tank housed with neons, guppys, swordtails, platys and mollies...the Kissing Gourami ate most of them in the end lol

I'm thinking of getting one for my empty 32 gallon now, dont think its big enough tho.

I used to have a 10" Kissing Gourami

Wow thats a big fish haha

I've got 2 of the kissing gourami's find the bigger of the two is pretty aggresive towards the smaller one so think i'll be getting rid of mine , mine definatly are nto shy though and generally eat anything. I have to put a few algae wafers in for my plec as the gourami's will eat them.

I bought another one yesterday a 7-8" Kisser for £10 bargain :D hes in there with a baby Firemouth and soon a Adult Angel,Pearl Gourami and some Tiger Barbs.
