Kirrin parrot fish are beautiful fish,
though not too common in the UK are a Hybrid between B;ood parrots and a flowerhorn.

This topic is mainly for people who own this fish and to share experience on keeping them :)

Here is my Little Girl Ryu, whos just starting to mature.

they are very beautiful. I just seen a few pic's of them on another forum a few days ago. First time seeing them.. I wish I had room in my BP tank for one I would def get one.. I'll have to wait till I get anther tank for that beauty though. :)

they are beautiful :)
i mean ryu i gotfor £36 at half the size.
I know she was a singapor export, from the shipment issued.
If you get a chance get one, mines the most peaceful parrot ever,
which wasnt expected as its a fowerhorn hybrid :p

if anyones got one ost your pictures and talk about your experiences :)

Would love to get one especially after just losing my male tex that I was planning to breed with my females.

Does anyone know if the male kirrins are fertile?

To my knowledge just as with king kongs
and bog standard flowerhorns the males are fertile.
As usually the offspring of Bp Hybrids tend to be fertile as both the parents seem to be.
After all if a king kong (lets say a Midas x Bp hybrid) is viable.
Whats to say a Kirrin (Fh x Bp hybrid) isnt viable to breed?

I dont have any evidence to back up the kirrin breeding though
as mines a female anyways. So feel free to jump in and correct me anyone.

I dont think male King Kongs are fertile.

Well looks like im getting 2 of these guys :)

I got mine today. Cute looking little things. I was hoping for the less deformed mouth but one of thems mouth is pretty funky. One is very light green/gold and the other is darker with the red markings around its head (almost the double of Xenon Junkie's).
