Hi.
I recently set up my 10G tank for my girly bettas.
I selected the following plants (very uneducated selection, I know...) to go in that tank:

Mondo Grass
Moneywort
Hairgrass

I originally had incandescent bulbs in the tank. A few weeks after planting and setting up the tank, I discovered that I should switch to flourescent bulbs - which I did. I now leave them on for about 6 - 8 hours each day.

I've been told that the mondo grass won't do very well in a full blown aquarium, and that it's moreso for reptile tanks where the plant won't be fully submerged.

BUT (you all sensed that I have a big BUT, didn't you? :D )
The mondo grass has been doing VERY well - only a few strands here and there have turned brown and I've cut them off, then put the plants back in and they're all still for the most part green after several weeks.

The hairgrass all died almost immediately, so I threw it out, but the moneywort is growing like mad.

Any suggestions on the mondo grass? My girls LOVE it - they love swimming thru it, hanging out in it and just playing in it. Should I just leave it until I see it start to turn brown? Go ahead and take it out?

Id be inclined to leave it in. It isnt an aquatic plant, so it will eventually die once left fully submerged for a long period. But for the time it takes for mondo grass to die under water (could take several months and then some) your fish might aswell have some enjoyment out of them like you said above! :)

Okay - I will!
I was just looking at the tank this morning and I noticed that the mondo is actually growing like crazy! One of the bigger plants has grown at least an inch or two - it's halfway up to the top of the water now.
