So I'm looking in my 48g tank and I see my 6'' plecos dorsal and tail are pretty much eaten down to the bones..

So I get to thinking who is doing it.. considering I have festivum, jurupari, and keyholes in the tank.. As I'm walking away I turn around to catch my 2'' keyhole biting at the bones of my pleco..

Freaking keyholes!.. I'd lost a couple other fish in that tank and couldn't figure out who was doing it.. I guess now I know it must be the killer keyholes..

Always thought they were not aggressive, but I guess I've got one that doesn't fit the stereotype.. bad keyhole! bad!

Really? I have a keyhole and he's great. Sometimes he'll poke around and investigate, but otherwise he's good.
You know what they say, though, lol. Not all fish follow the rules!

Yea I was pretty shocked.. occassionally one of them will have a nip out of their fins.. but I just thought it was the festivum.. now I've got to clean the algea myself!... pleco is going into the casualties tank.. a tank with a few fish that have been bullied in the tanks they were in..

Hopefully I can rehab this guy.. I've had it for awhile.

I'm sure he'll be all right, plecos are generally(key word here  ) pretty tough. That still blows me away that a keyhole would do that. Now I'm eyeing my guy, lol. He's still a baby, barely half grown.
I wish you luck, and maybe if you put the keyhole in a 'corner' for a day or so it will help. Not kidding lol. Mine was bothering my otos, I put him in a smaller tank for a day, then put him back. he's been an angel ever since.

It's one of the smallest fish in the tank.. I couldn't believe it when I saw it pecking away at the plecos bones where it's dorsal fin used to be.. bad keyhole!

There are 3 keyholes total in the tank.. it is the largest of the 3.. maybe it's trying to be the dominant fish in the tank.

One of my keyholes ate a Corydoras eye, not a pretty sight!

I guess it just goes to show that they are still cichlids.
I actually had to go out and buy a tank divider for my quarantine tank because my keyhole was actively hunting the otos. Poor things.
