My tank arrives this afternoon. I predict it wont be ready to fill until tomorrow as I need to build the cabinet, silicon the background in (the plastic internal type), and put subtrate in place.

My question is, if I go out and buy some plants this afternoon, what would be the best way to keep them over night until the tank could be filled?? Could I simply keep them in a bucket of water??

Also....How long does silicon take to dry off enough, so that its safe to fill the tank without it causing any issues with the water??? (I'm not talking about the actually silicon on the glass...but on a background stuck to the glass)

Thanks in advance.....

Bucket will be fine overnight, but try and remove them asap to the tank, or maybe stick a heater in the bucket this will help.

Silicon is usually recommended to cure for 72 hours or 3 full days before adding water, but for a background only i would let it cure for a shorter period, but i dont know for definate the effect it would have, just go easy on the amount of silicon you use, you shouldn't need much, and make sure its for an aquarium the type you use.

Sounds like you have some work to do......good luck with it.

Cheers

I think I'll dab a bit of silicon between two bits of plastic...and when that's reasonably set, so it wont wash out....I'll start to fill....
