Okay, some of my plants have a tendency get lose and end up either floating or in the filter. I am wondering what are some good ways of keeping the plants down. Like I've heard ways to keep them down, like weights, or fishing line but I haven’t been able to do this totally successfully. I am asking for suggestions on how and what to do to keep the plants down without damaging them.
Thanks

Hello Piti and welcome to the forums!

Some have said not to use the lead strips although some of them are not completely lead but I assume it's due to reasons of lead leeching into to water and possibly harming the fish.

I choose to use black thread because it eventually rots away and by then the plant should have taken root. However, sometimes I can get it well and sometimes my tying seems to be suspect and the plants come loose on the rock. I suppose this is just a practice makes perfect thing.

I will try and cover the roots of rhizome plants that are tied to ricks just to add some extra weight to a part of the plant that can by buried.

Okay, strings, but can you be more specific if you dont mind. like do you tie aroung the plant a couple times and then tie it off to something on the tank?

Yup pretty much. You don't want to tie very tight because you don't want the string cutting into the plant. Rhizome plants are the easiest because they already give you a base to wrap the thread around. Stem plants just take a little more work. I just give them 4 or 5 wraps around the plant base and rock/driftwood and tie the two ends off. It just takes a little bit of practice.
