Keeping Plants Bedded In Substrate

Ok so my plec is rather big and dopy and tends to up root my plants rather easily. Should I just add some larger gravel around the plants to give them more stability ?

Take it they are stem plants? How deep is your gravel?

Yea and it's about 4cm

Hmmm, could just buy some plant weights and once in the gravel they should be harder to pull out with the added width and weight.

I've got a semi-large dragon (violet) gobi who is all but blind and he's VERY hard on my plants. His movement strategy seems to be "swim through anything that gets in your way." This tends to rip my plants right out of my sand substrate.

I eventually had to resort to planting large-ish rocks around the bases of my plants. And for what it's worth, this technique works pretty well.
